Anode Baskets
Titanium anode baskets or anode cages are available in a variety of shapes, sizes and materials. They are designed to hold the anodes, which provide a source of metallic ions to be plated, and carry the electric current that drives the electroplating process. When selecting an anode basket it is important to consider the chemical environment, the size of the parts being plated and the current necessary to plate the required thickness.
Titanium anode baskets (TAB) also referred to as anode cages come in a standard size of 2 1/2″ x 6″ and are available in a variety of other assorted sizes. They are available in two thicknesses: small flattened expanded (.023″ thick) or heavy small expanded (.050″ thick). The hook options vary depending on amperage requirements.
Ball anode baskets (BAB) also referred to as anode cages come in a standard diameter size of 2 1/2″ and are available in perforated sheet, expanded metal or spiral 3/16″ wire. They are available in two thicknesses: small flattened expanded (.023″ thick) or heavy small expanded (.050″ thick). The hook options vary depending on amperage requirements.
Each anode basket must have the appropriate open area which allows for efficient current transfer and dissolution of the anodes.
The hook design can be a double knife edge (DKE) or a diamond (square) hook depending on the per basket amperage requirement.
